Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ChecKin.
ChecKin is a mobile app that automates daily check-ups on your elderly parents through phone calls and SMS. You set the schedule, and ChecKin handles the rest.
No! Your parents just need a regular phone. ChecKin calls or texts them — they simply answer the phone or reply to the SMS. No app installation needed on their end.
When ChecKin calls your parent, they can leave a voice message after the check-up greeting. You'll receive the recording in the app and can listen to it anytime.
ChecKin has a Smart Retry system. If your parent doesn't pick up, it automatically tries again. After multiple attempts, it sends an SMS as a fallback and notifies you.
ChecKin offers a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. After the trial, a Premium subscription ($5.99/month or $59.99/year) is required. Premium includes up to 2 recipients, 2 schedules per recipient, custom MP3 voice messages, and 90-day recording retention.
The ChecKin app interface is available in English, Spanish, and French. Recipient communications (phone calls and SMS) support English, Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Voice recordings are stored securely and automatically deleted based on your plan's retention period (7 days free, 90 days premium). We never sell your data.
Yes! You can write a custom message for SMS check-ups. Premium users can also upload a custom MP3 file for phone call greetings.
ChecKin works with phone numbers in most countries. Our voice calls and SMS support English, Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese. SMS works globally.
ChecKin sends push notifications to your phone whenever your parent responds to a check-up — or when they don't respond after all retries.
Currently, each recipient is managed by one ChecKin account. We're working on family sharing features for a future update.
You can cancel anytime from the app's Settings page. You'll keep Premium features until the end of your billing period.
